Pregnancy Update - 30 Weeks

Thirty weeks and still pregnant!

Here's the rundown

-I've been on bed rest for 5 weeks now due to preterm labor issues

-Still having some contractions despite taking 10 mg of Nifedipine every four hours

-Trips to the MAC (Maternity Assesment Center) at Abbott Northwestern have been a weekly event, when I have more than 10 contractions an hour for more than two hours. A shot of Terbutalene seems to work each time.

-The baby's heart is handling these episodes much better now

-Despite the contractions I'm still only about 30% effaced - PTL!

-Weight gain: 15 lbs

-No stretch marks yet - Yay!

The nursery is coming together, thanks to my wonderful husband and inlaws:

I've been keeping busy by:

Working on cross-stitch for the baby's room-

(Not finished yet)

Reading and writing book reviews -

Still working a few hours editing audio on my HP netbook mini:

And spending lots of time praying for my husband!

Thankful Thursday

I am so thankful for this:

Twenty eight weeks and still pregnant. Each day is such a blessing.

I'm grateful for all the wonderful Blogging for Books programs that are making this time of bed rest fly by.

We've had many meals delivered by our wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ. Each one is such a blessing to us.

Most of all I'm thankful for my husband who has been so strong during this difficult time. He is truly being an Ephesians 5 husband.

Thankful Thursday

Colossians 2:6,7

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

The assistant Pastor has been teaching a class on how we got our Bible. While I can't attend the class (bed rest) I am so blessed to have a job editing audio - I never miss anything taught at our church.

I am so thankful that God loved us sinners enough to inspire the biblical authors to give us His word that we might come to know Him.

I thankful for the many scribes who have so accurately preserved His word over so many centuries.

I am so glad to have been born in a country where God's word is easily available and the we can openly worship Him.

What are you thankful for this week?

Thank you to Iris over at Grace Alone for hosting Thankful Thursday this week.

The Times They are a Changin' - Momentous Monday

Tiffany over at A Moment Cherished is now hosting
Momentous Monday, a chance for all of us to cherish everyday moments. Please check out her beautiful blog for more precious moments.

On Thursday the Teen officially left his middle school years behind and became a high-schooler.
On Friday Mr K met the Teen's father at the high school in his new town to get him enrolled for next year.

On Saturday My K borrowed a truck and in one afternoon the Teen was packed up and moved out- sniff.

This was the Teen's room Friday night:

And these were taken Saturday night:

Gone are the piles of dirty laundry, food wrappers strewn about everywhere, and half-drank bottles of water.
The scent of Axe has almost faded.

But I will always have the memory of the quiet moment when the Teen first woke up Saturday morning. He came upstairs and sat quietly in a chair in the office. I walked in and he simply stood up and gave me a long hug. No words were needed. After fifteen years our time was over changing. He was off to load up his stuff and set off on a new adventure in his life.

I am so proud of him.

Sunday Sermons

23Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;
24and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,
25not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:23-25

True believers need church. We need to gather together under the preaching of the Word. We need to pray for one another and worship together.

This is my second week of bedrest with thirteen weeks to go. I miss church!! I miss the worship.
I miss seeing my Christian brothers and sisters.

Yet I am so thankful for the technology of today. It is such a blessing to be able to get out my laptop and watch a sermon by John MacArthur and then last weeks sermon from my church. It's not the same as being there, but I'm still being fed the Word of God.

Houdini

This is Sadie. She is by far the easiest, best-behaved, sweetest-tempered beagle of the pack.
She doesn't chew on things.
She doesn't dig.
She never pees in the house - unless something scares her.
She always comes when she's called.
She stays off the furniture.
And she never runs away.

However, yesterday she disappeared. Vanished from the fenced-in back yard. Gone without a trace.

Normally a missing beagle would be full blown, three-alarm family emergency. The Teen was at his 8th grade promotion party and I, being on bed rest, was mostly helpless.

My K searched the neighborhood. First drove, then went on foot.

We both checked over the fence line trying to see where she got out, but found nothing.

We were standing on the breezeway after dark as Mr K was about to take one last look around the neighborhood when we heard a whine at the back door. The incredible disappearing beagle reappeared as mysteriously as she vanished.

It may be time to change her name to Houdini!

Thankful Thursday

After  three trips to the MAC at Abbott Northwestern I am so very thankful to still be pregnant.

I am thankful for the wonderful doctors and nurses there who have taken such great care of me and Baby.  Although we had several scares involving the baby's heart rate during/after the contractions they were able to get things settled down quickly and they have found the right dose of Nifedipine to keep the contractions to a minimum without dropping my blood pressure to low.

My husband has been absolutely wonderful through all of this. Since I am on bed rest he has had to take over all household duties, being the Teen's taxi driver, taking me to Dr appointments, and still trying to work. He has been calm and supportive and caring.

People from our church have been dropping of meals and offering so much support. I am so grateful for our church family. Just this morning I had an OB appointment and when we returned there was a roast and potatoes waiting at our door.

The Teen has his 8th grade promotion tonight. Next fall, high school. I am so proud of him.

What are you thankful for this week?
