Thank you, sweet friends, for your continued care and concern for my Dad. Your prayers are appreciated.
I have a brief health up date for you, along with some ministry news.
Health Update:
As for his health, his hemoglobin count was down to 6.6 on Monday. He continues to need regular (almost weekly) blood transfusions. He started his new treatment, Cytoxin, almost two weeks ago. He saw his rheumatologist yesterday and is going to have to cut the dose in half because his white blood cell count has fallen way too low. Please pray that this treatment, even at the lower dose, will cause an increase in his red blood cells. Please also pray that he would remain healthy as this treatment will wipe out his immune system.

Ministry updates:
Despite his ongoing health problems, I am so happy to be able to share with you the wonderful news that he has been able to return to the pulpit to preach an occasional sermon. It is such a blessing to hear him preach again. The new church is Gospel of Grace Fellowship, led by Pastor Eric Douma. You can hear the sermons at the website.
He also has a new CIC article, Cursed by Works or Blessed by Faith. All new CIC articles will be online only, no print newsletters will be mailed. You can sign up to receive and email when new articles are published here.
Local friends:
There is a blood drive being held for him and all blood types will help.

Psalm 91:1-2
1
The one who lives under the protection of the Most High
dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.
2
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Pastor Bob looks good in the picture and it is wonderful that he is back preaching again. I am working on the DVD project that we filmed Pastor Bob in the summer of 2011. It should be complete later this year. Bob was very gracious in his agreement to answer questions on the issue of the Sovereignty of God. We really appreciate him!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great project, Cheryl. I will be looking forward to seeing the DVD!
DeleteThanks for the updates Jessica. We continue to pray for him daily.
ReplyDeleteJessica,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about all your dad is going through. I am thankful he has been restored to preaching. I got to correspond with him a little bit before the book on The Emergent Church came out and am so thankful for the wisdom, heart, and determination he has put forth to speak out on these issues so critical to the Church today. Let him know I am praying for him and all of you that love him and are supporting him through his health issues. Anna Kelley
Hi there from New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteI have benefitted enormously from your fathers' books and sermons, and was deeply saddened to hear of this horrible battle he is fighting.
Praise God he seems to be well on the road to recovery, though we all know what an evil monster this disease can be, and can rear its' ugly head anytime.
His toughest battle will be to win back the trust of the people he served. It is easy to judge from 10,000 miles away, but I can rest in the fact that since God does not hold his sin against him, so why should I feel aggrieved?
It is good to see him up and about, back doing the Lord's work.
God Bless
CG
Thank you!
DeleteI'm just learning who your father is. Never heard of him 3 weeks ago. I've been trying to locate him. What's the current update?
ReplyDeleteHello! Thank you for stopping by and commenting. He is still completely dependant on blood transfusions, which not a good position to be in, but otherwise is feeling better than he has in quite awhile.
DeleteI first encountered Pastor Bob many years ago through CIC. I e-mailed him on several occasions thanking him for his teaching, and what they meant to me to hear the word taught in the manner only he could. He was always kind to respond to my e-mails with an encouraging word. I pray blessings down on him and the entire family. Thank you for the update
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind words and your encouragement.
